Research interests
Synthetic polymers and biomaterials

David grew up in Berkhamsted, a small town just north of London, UK. He graduated in 2009 with an MSci in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, gaining industrial experience in 2008 working in the Netherlands for DSM Biomedical on the development of sustainable biocompatible polymers for drug-delivery applications. David stayed at the University of Bristol to complete his PhD as one of the first cohort of the Bristol Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training, graduating in 2014. His PhD research focussed on the synthesis and self-assembly of functional block copolymers under the supervision of Prof. Ian Manners and Prof. Paul Pringle. David joined the group of Prof. Hagan Bayley in July 2015 as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow. He is currently on secondment at the Materials Research Laboratory, University of California, Santa Barbara, working on a joint project between the groups of Prof. Bayley and Prof. Craig J. Hawker.
